Where to install solar panels? Paris has got the answer!

Where to install solar panels in my city ?

Any city wishing to encourage the use of solar energy faces this same question.
Paris has given an answer by publishing France’s first solar cadastre.

The City of Paris, which has been a member of Energy Cities since 2004, has once again showed good will in increasing the use of renewable energy, notably through the adoption of its second Climate Action Plan last December. By participating in the POLIS project (together with the cities of Lyon*, Munich*, Malmö*, Vitoria and Lisbon), the French capital committed to set up a tool that would help increase the use of solar energy.

If there are similar maps in Germany or in the United Kingdom, it is the very first to be published in France. This map, created by the Paris Urban-Planning Agency (APUR), was prepared thanks to a 3D digital model of Paris, aimed at taking into account all shadows of the buildings (or trees) on the roofs. The map displays the average yearly sunshine in Paris, and is based on meteorological situation observed over the past few years.
